INVITED LECTURES IN THE FIELD "DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT" - FIRE SAFETY IN BUILDINGS, prof.dr Mirjana Laban

Within the framework of SMS exchange of Erasmus+ project K-FORCE (Knowledge For Resilient soCiEty) at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy on 23rd May, 2019 a lecture was held by prof. dr Mirjana Laban on a subject "FIRE SAFETY IN BUILDINGS".

Lecture is a very important topic that civil engineers should actively and seriously address. Unfortunately, our legislation is not sufficiently defined when fire resistance of structures or designing the effect of fire is at stake. We have standards and guidelines in the process of making changes. Until there is a change, there are many cases of interpretation of this topic in different ways.

Professors, in an interesting way, outlined the basic problems we face when it comes to fire resistance and fire protection. A fire risk assessment was also performed, ie the outcomes of the behavior of the actors in the fires on which human lives depend. Emphasis is placed on a large number of the uninitiated when it comes to fire behavior.

Attendees were actively discussing and it was noted that this topic needed more lectures like this. The lectures were attended by civil engineers, students of AGGF, as well as teachers and associates of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, University of Banja Luka.
